Website Performance

Get your Lighthouse score above 90

Speed audits, Core Web Vitals optimisation, and performance engineering for Australian websites. We find every bottleneck, fix what matters most, and prove the results with data.

Why Speed Matters

Slow websites cost you customers

Performance isn't a nice-to-have — it's a direct revenue driver. Google uses Core Web Vitals as a ranking factor, and users abandon slow sites before they even see your content.

1s delay = 7% fewer conversions

Every additional second of load time reduces conversions by up to 7%, increases bounce rates by 11%, and decreases page views by 11%. For an ecommerce store doing $100k/day, a 1-second delay costs $2.5 million in lost revenue per year.

What We Optimise

Every metric that impacts your score

We don't just run a Lighthouse test and hand you a report. We fix the underlying issues across every Core Web Vital and performance metric.

LCP

Largest Contentful Paint

Optimise the loading speed of your page's main content. We target LCP under 1.5 seconds through image optimisation, preloading, and server-side rendering.

(Threshold source: web.dev / Google)

FID / INP

Interaction to Next Paint

Reduce input delay and ensure your site responds to user interactions within 200ms. We eliminate long tasks, defer non-critical scripts, and optimise event handlers.

CLS

Cumulative Layout Shift

Stop content from jumping around as the page loads. We fix layout shifts caused by images without dimensions, dynamic content injection, and late-loading fonts.

TTFB

Time to First Byte

Speed up server response times with CDN configuration, edge caching, database optimisation, and server-side rendering strategies.

Image Optimisation

Modern Formats & Lazy Loading

Convert images to WebP/AVIF, implement responsive srcsets, lazy-load below-the-fold images, and properly size every asset for every viewport.

Code Splitting

Ship Less JavaScript

Reduce JavaScript bundle sizes with tree-shaking, code splitting, dynamic imports, and removal of unused dependencies. Less code means faster load times.

Performance Audit

What's included in every audit

A comprehensive, data-driven analysis of your website's performance. Not a generic automated report — a hands-on audit by a performance engineer with actionable recommendations ranked by impact.

Lighthouse performance scoring
Core Web Vitals field data analysis
Render-blocking resource audit
JavaScript bundle analysis
Image format and sizing review
Third-party script impact assessment
Server response time testing
Caching strategy evaluation
Mobile performance profiling
CDN and edge delivery review

Our Process

From audit to measurable results

A data-driven, four-step process. Every optimisation is measured against real-world performance data — not just lab scores.

01

Audit

Comprehensive performance analysis using Lighthouse, WebPageTest, and Chrome DevTools. We identify every bottleneck with real-world field data.

02

Prioritise

Rank every issue by impact and effort. You get a clear roadmap showing which fixes deliver the biggest speed gains first.

03

Optimise

Implement performance fixes — image optimisation, code splitting, caching, server configuration, and Core Web Vitals improvements.

04

Monitor

30-day post-optimisation monitoring with before/after reports. We verify improvements hold under real traffic conditions.

FAQ

Website performance — common questions

What are Core Web Vitals and why do they matter?

Core Web Vitals are Google's set of real-world performance metrics that measure loading speed (LCP), interactivity (INP), and visual stability (CLS). Since 2021, they've been a direct Google ranking factor. Poor Core Web Vitals mean lower search rankings, higher bounce rates, and fewer conversions — regardless of how good your content is.

How fast should my website load?

Your Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) should be under 2.5 seconds, ideally under 1.5 seconds. Time to First Byte (TTFB) should be under 800ms. Pages that load in under 2 seconds have significantly lower bounce rates and higher conversion rates than slower pages. We target sub-2-second full page loads on mobile.

What causes slow websites?

The most common culprits are unoptimised images, render-blocking JavaScript, excessive third-party scripts (analytics, chat widgets, tag managers), bloated CSS frameworks, poor hosting infrastructure, no caching strategy, and uncompressed assets. WordPress sites with multiple plugins are especially prone to performance issues.

Can you fix WordPress performance issues?

Yes. We optimise WordPress sites by auditing and removing unnecessary plugins, implementing proper caching (server-side and CDN), optimising images with modern formats (WebP/AVIF), deferring non-critical JavaScript, minifying CSS, and configuring hosting for speed. For sites beyond saving, we recommend a rebuild with a modern stack.

How much does a website performance audit cost?

Performance audits start from $500 for a comprehensive analysis of your site's speed, Core Web Vitals, and bottlenecks — delivered as an actionable report with prioritised recommendations. Full performance optimisation projects range from $1,500 to $5,000+ depending on site complexity and platform.
